GRID WEB HOSTING IS THE LATEST TREND
Grid hosting brings the poweful hosting capabilities of enterprise level systems to economical web hosting plans. For about the price of a nominal web hosting program, those who use grid hosting will have access to vastly increased disk space, data transfer, and an individual user can place almost a hundred of individual domains on the server.
So how did all of this come about? Webmasters recognized that during peak usage they may not be able to provide enough power to accomodate all the traffic loads. And the first, and obvious solution, was to employ a dedicated server. But, that only delays the eventual problem of having to migrate to an even more powerful dedicated server. And on it goes.
So why not employ server clusters, that is using multiple server platforms connected by an intranet or internet network to work in unison to accomodate traffic loads during peak hours? Since the multiple servers can be anywhere, their server loads will vary dramatically. Thus, when one is experiencing normal usage another can be handling an overwhelming amount of traffic, an amount of traffic that it simply can not satisfy. So combine the two, or, in this case, combine several to provide the horsepowere that any one machine would require at any given time.
What does this mean to the consumer? Certainly, as a beginning, one can afford the superior punch of enterprise level systems and all the power that comes with it. No more will you have to worry about getting planted on an underpowered machine for your hosting. After all, the idea is to generate all the traffic possible. But when that occurs, why would you want to be faced with service interruptions because your server can not handle the traffic your site is now demanding?
