Office applications can be expensive, and they’re inconvenient for the user who works from multiple locations. Online office suites are a low-cost, portable alternative. You don’t have to download or install any software, you can store documents online–which means you never have to worry about your computer crashing– and you can access your documents from any location. The biggest advantage to online office suites may be their price: most are free.

Google Docs and Spreadsheets is probably the most popular option. Google Docs offers a basic word processor. You can do all the typical things: change the font, set indents and alignments, adjust the spacing, and add bullet and number lists. Google Spreadsheets offers more than two hundred functions. Both Docs and Spreadsheets are compatible with popular file formats such as DOC, RTF, CSV, and XLS.

For those who aren’t keen on Google, Zoho’s many online applications might be a better choice. Zoho gives users a range of programs to choose from. There are applications for creating word processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, planners, wikis and much more. Zoho Writer and Zoho Sheet and Show also support all Microsoft Office formats, so if you really need to work offline, you can do so with ease.

Another online office suite to check out is ThinkFree. Their service is fully compatible with Microsoft Office, and they offer one gigabyte of free online storage space. ThinkFree is a free-for-now program; their website states that they plan to charge for services in the future.

NOKIA NETBOOK 3G

Nokia is mobile phone, now in 2009 it is also a laptop with 3G connectivity. It is the first time that Windows operating system runs on Nokia device. Nokia booklet 3G is the new comer of the mobile pc market.

Powered by Atom Intel processor, Nokia claims that it can stay on up to 12 hours without charging. Although we are not sure on what condition that the battery can last that long. If it’s true, it is possible now to go out the whole day without bringing the cable, yet still being productive.

Other features including an HDMI port for HD video output, front webcam for video calls, SD card slot. For more specification you can find on this Nokia’s page.

There is no information on pricing and availability. So I guess we have to wait for it to come to the market near us.

Imagine you are at a sport event or on a beach in a sunny day, sunglass is a must have. Not anymore, this time you can use contact lenses instead. As claimed by it designer, it is safer than a sunglass, because you don have to worry about the ball run straight to your face and shattered glass.

This new contact lens is designed by Korean designers In-young Yoon, Jun-kyo Lee & Young-ho Lee. The lens has four different styles for different occasion, shade, green, red and yellow. So, you may need all of these color for every occasion.

So you have to plan your day before, so you know which one to wear for today.

Grid hosting brings the poweful hosting capabilities of enterprise level systems to economical web hosting plans. For about the price of a nominal web hosting program, those who use grid hosting will have access to vastly increased disk space, data transfer, and an individual user can place almost a hundred of individual domains on the server.

So how did all of this come about? Webmasters recognized that during peak usage they may not be able to provide enough power to accomodate all the traffic loads. And the first, and obvious solution, was to employ a dedicated server. But, that only delays the eventual problem of having to migrate to an even more powerful dedicated server. And on it goes.

So why not employ server clusters, that is using multiple server platforms connected by an intranet or internet network to work in unison to accomodate traffic loads during peak hours? Since the multiple servers can be anywhere, their server loads will vary dramatically. Thus, when one is experiencing normal usage another can be handling an overwhelming amount of traffic, an amount of traffic that it simply can not satisfy. So combine the two, or, in this case, combine several to provide the horsepowere that any one machine would require at any given time.

What does this mean to the consumer? Certainly, as a beginning, one can afford the superior punch of enterprise level systems and all the power that comes with it. No more will you have to worry about getting planted on an underpowered machine for your hosting. After all, the idea is to generate all the traffic possible. But when that occurs, why would you want to be faced with service interruptions because your server can not handle the traffic your site is now demanding?

Isn’t it nice if you can charge your phone battery by just put them down on a flat surface? If you use more than one mobile phone, charging all of them is a boring task. You need to have different cord for different phones. Plus all the phone did not run low on battery at the same time. You just fully charged one phone, but this other is getting low.

Duracell My grid is a flat surface that you can leave your phones on to have them charged. You don’t need to deal with many power cords anymore.

This deive works by cliping a power slip on to your phone or mp3 player. When you put it down on mygrid surface it will charge automatically.

There are times that you need to do the basic edition of photos such as resizing for e-mail, but you don’t have photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop installed on your computer. Don’t worry if you can connect to the internet you can edit your photos now using these tools:

Picnik: I fist know about picknik when using flickr. Picknik has a range of features from resizing images to adding special effect. Best of all you can upload photos to photosharing website and social networking sites after you finished editing your photos.
Adobe Photoshop Express: Features are similar to Picknik. This one by Adobe of course the most popular photo editing software is by Adobe.
Image Chef: This one is more about adding funs features to your photos such as frame and special effects. There are many templates to choose from.

Editing photos is more fun now with these tools. There are many similar tools out there on the web, above is just the list of why I know.

This is putting technology to work in rural environment. Tata Teleservices is helping farmers in India to control the water irrigation remotely using a system called Nano Ganesh.

The needs for this products emerges from the electricity shortage. Before farmer use to walk several miles just to know that there is no electricity for the pump. With Nano Ganesh, now farmer can check to see if there is electricity and control the pump remotely.

BALANCED PHOTO WITH CAMERA CUBE

In my previous on landscape and night photography tips, I talked about taking photo with tilted horizon. And getting the photo straight is not easy, because some time you cannot trust your eyes. Camera cube comes to solve the problem by using the bubble level that construction contractor use.

You can attach the camera cube to any hot-shoe for flash or accessory attachment. So camera cube is not for many compact point-and-shoot digital cameras. The camera cube as three axes that help you get leveled photo both vertical and horizontal.

However, as the product photo shows, I wonder how you could possibly look into the view finder, and the same time look at the cube to see if it is leveled. So the camera cube are better used with tripod, where you can lock you composition and adjust the level. But there are tripod that come with the bubble level indicator.
